Who We Are

Community Stargazers™ is a multigenerational astronomy and outreach program dedicated to helping people discover the wonders of the night sky. We partner with local libraries, schools, community groups, and other organizations to bring accessible, beginner‑friendly astronomy to anyone interested — no experience required.

Our Mission

  • Inspire curiosity through hands‑on astronomy

  • Build confidence through guided exploration

  • Create welcoming, inclusive events for families and community members

  • Share the beauty of the universe through binoculars, telescopes, and astrophotography

What We Believe

Astronomy is for everyone. Whether you’re looking at the Moon for the first time or exploring deep‑sky objects, we’re here to guide you, support your curiosity, and spark a lifelong love of science.

STEM for Everyone

Community Stargazers™ is more than an astronomy club — it’s a gateway into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning for all ages. Our programs help families, students, and community members build real scientific skills in a friendly, supportive environment.

What STEM Looks Like at Our Events

  • Learning how telescopes work

  • Understanding the motion of the Moon, planets, and stars

  • Using Stellarium and other apps and programs to explore the sky indoors

  • Using star‑hopping for discovery and navigation

  • Capturing astrophotos with cameras and smartphones

  • Asking questions, making discoveries, and building confidence

We believe STEM should be hands‑on, joyful, and accessible — especially for communities with limited access to astronomy and science experiences.

About the Founder

Community Stargazers™ was created by Darren Breslin, an amateur astronomer, educator, and certified Library Telescope Ambassador. Darren has completed formal training through national astronomy outreach programs, including:

•             Library Telescope Program – Ambassador Core Training (2026)

•             Kalamazoo Astronomical Society – Introduction to Amateur Astronomy (2026)

He is also a member in good standing of:

•             Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers (DVAA)

•             Astronomical Society of Harrisburg (ASH)

These affiliations reflect Darren’s commitment to safe telescope operation, community engagement, and accessible STEM education for all ages. He combines hands‑on astronomy experience with a passion for teaching, helping families and communities discover the night sky with confidence and curiosity.
